FAQ
Answers on how ordering and quotes work, what we can print and in what materials, shipping and turnaround, returns, and where the metal fabrication line stands.
How do quotes work for custom prints?
Upload a model or describe what you need through the print shop's request form. We price it by material, layer height, and turnaround — usually back to you within a day. No account or commitment needed to get a number.
What file formats do you accept?
STL and STEP cover almost everything. If you're starting from a sketch or photo instead of a file, describe it in the request and we'll work out the rest with you before quoting.
Can I change or cancel an order after placing it?
If it hasn't started printing yet, yes — reply to your order confirmation and we'll adjust or cancel it. Once a job is on the bed, we can't stop it partway through.
Do I need an account to order?
No. Checkout works fine as a guest. An account is only useful if you want to save designs you're planning to have made, or check an order's status later — you can create one any time from the header.
What's the minimum order?
There isn't one for stock items or one-off custom prints — we'll happily print a single part. Small-batch pricing kicks in at 25 units, where the per-unit cost drops because we can queue the whole run at once.
Can you sign an NDA before I send a design?
Yes — email us before uploading and we'll get one signed. Regardless of paperwork, we don't share, resell, or reuse customer designs; that's written into our terms, not just a promise.
What materials do you print in?
PLA, PETG, ASA, Nylon-CF, and resin, stocked in-house. Full specs and use cases are in the Material Library over in the print shop.
Do you print functional parts, or just prototypes?
Both. Rapid Prototyping is for quick iteration; Custom Enclosures and Printed Accessories are meant to be the actual part you use, not a placeholder for a "real" one later.
How big can you print?
Up to 340 × 320 × 340 mm in FDM, and 302 × 162 × 300 mm in resin. Larger parts can be split, printed in sections, and bonded — we'll flag it in the quote if that's the route.
Can you match a specific color?
Usually. We stock 12 filament colors outright, and for anything else we can paint and color-match to a Pantone reference or a physical sample as part of the finishing service.
How strong are printed parts, really?
Strong enough to be the actual part in most applications — Nylon-CF and PETG hold up well under real load. They are not a drop-in substitute for machined metal, and we'll say so upfront if we think your part should wait for the CNC line.
Do you do design work, or only printing?
We print, and we'll give feedback on manufacturability for free — wall thickness, overhangs, orientation, that kind of thing. Full design from scratch is case by case; ask and we'll tell you honestly if it's a fit.
Where do orders ship from, and how fast?
Everything ships from Bay 4, Unit B. Typical turnaround is 24-48 hours from order to shipment for in-stock print items; custom jobs depend on the queue and we'll give you a specific estimate with your quote.
Do you ship internationally?
Domestic shipping only for now. International shipping is on the list as the print farm — and eventually the metal work line — grows.
How much is shipping?
Calculated at checkout by weight and destination — you'll see the exact cost before paying. Larger batch runs ship freight and get quoted separately.
Can I get it faster?
Sometimes. If a job is small and the queue allows, we can bump it. Email us before ordering with your deadline and we'll tell you straight whether it's doable, rather than take the order and miss it.
Do you offer local pickup?
Yes, from Bay 4, Unit B. Mention it when you order and we'll hold it instead of shipping, and refund the shipping cost.
What's your return policy?
If a printed part arrives with a defect — layer separation, warping, a dimension that's off from spec — we'll reprint or refund it, no questions asked. If you just changed your mind on a custom job, reach out and we'll figure out something fair; custom prints can't always go back on the shelf the way stocked items can.
What if my part arrives damaged in shipping?
Send a photo through the contact form within 7 days of delivery and we'll get a replacement out — no need to ship the damaged one back first.
What counts as a defect?
Layer separation, warping, stringing that changes fit, or any dimension measurably outside what we quoted. Normal layer lines and minor surface texture are inherent to the process rather than defects — if you need a smoother result, that's what the finishing service is for.
Is there a warranty on printed parts?
We stand behind the print itself: if it fails from a manufacturing fault, we'll replace it. We can't warranty a part against use it wasn't designed for, and we'll say so during quoting if we think an application is beyond what the material can take.
When will CNC hardware actually be available?
No fixed date yet — we're not shipping metal parts before we can hold the tolerances we'd put our name on. The Metal Fab section has the current concept lineup and a "get notified" option for when that changes.
Can I pre-order or reserve a concept design?
Not yet, and deliberately so — we're not taking money for hardware we can't promise a date on. Use the notify option on any concept and you'll be first to know when it's real.
Are the concept prices final?
No. Every price on the Metal Fab page is an estimate based on current material costs and projected machine time. They'll move before launch — up or down — and nothing is a commitment until the item is actually orderable.
Will you do custom CNC work when the line opens?
That's the plan, starting with simpler geometries and expanding as the process gets dialed in. If you have a specific job in mind, send it now — it helps us prioritize what to tool up for first.
